Red Oak has mostly a straight, wide grain pattern, and tends to have less figure than White Oak. It is quite workable and is not prone to burning when machined, pre-drilling is advised for screws and nails. Galvanized screws and nails should be used. Red Oak can be finished with a wide array of stains or clear finishes. It is perfect for furniture and trim.
Although most pieces are relatively smooth, we have listed all sizes as if the lumber was rough cut. Sizes listed are rounded down to the nearest 1/4 inch to allow extra material for surfacing by customer. The listed size is the presumed size after surfacing.
